Gov. Pete Ricketts’ message to the 130th graduating class of Hastings College was one of love, opportunity and giving back to the community as the graduates prepare to embark on their future careers.
“We have the best places in the world to live right here in Nebraska,” Ricketts said during the commencement address at Hastings College graduation Saturday.
He told graduates they are going to have a lot of opportunities to be able to choose a career path both in- and out-of-state.
“But, at the end of the day, we want to make sure that your career path leads back here to Nebraska where you can establish careers and families,” he said.
Ricketts said the reason why Nebraska is one of the best places in the world to live are the people who live, work and raise families here.
“We want our brightest and best young people to return back here to Nebraska and ask them to grow our state,” Ricketts said.
Spring is an exciting time, as thousands of young people graduate from college and begin to stake out their own path in life. Those graduates also release a tremendous amount of potential energy into society as future businesses leaders, decision-makers, innovators, fathers and mothers.
Ricketts encouraged the graduates to get involved in their community.
